Prototype Release

I’m excited to share the first prototype of Matter, an idle/incremental web game I whipped up in about 8 hours as a fun exercise and to showcase in my portfolio. Built with pure HTML, CSS and vanilla JavaScript, it’s inspired by the popular Antimatter Dimensions-but with its own twist.

What’s in this first build?

  • Core loop: click to generate Matter or let your Generators produce it automatically.

  • Four Generator tiers at launch, each multiplying your production in increasing power.

  • Prestige via “Distillation”: reset your Matter to earn permanent Distillation Points and unlock powerful upgrades.

  • Hard‑Prestige (“Reality Merge”): once you’ve progressed far enough, sacrifice everything for a permanent, ever‑growing production multiplier.

  • Achievements & UI flair: over 30 achievements (including secret ones!), a glitching title effect, confetti bursts, and a smoothly animated cosmic background.

  • Save system: your progress lives in browser localStorage-no account or backend required.

What’s next?

  • More tiers & upgrades: I’m planning to add additional generator levels, unlockable mechanics, and new prestige currencies.

  • Offline progress & mobile UI: let the game run in the background, with a responsive layout for touch devices.

  • Visual polish & sound: custom iconography, particle effects, and an original soundtrack.

  • Community feedback: I’ll be iterating based on player suggestions-bug fixes, balance tweaks, quality‑of‑life improvements.

You can try it right now in any modern web browser-no installation needed. Feedback, bug reports, or feature ideas are very welcome; you’ll find links to the GitHub repo and my social channels in the footer. Stay tuned for Devlog #2 where I’ll dive into the upgrade shop system and reveal the roadmap for mid‑game progression!
